How old do i have to be to get tattooed?

With a parents consent you can get tattooed at the age of 16. Your parents will have to be present at the tattoo appointment to approve the tattoo design and placement as well as sign a waiver. Both you and your parent will have to provide Photo ID. Parental consent is not required if you are 18 years of age or older.

Everyone, no matter what age, requires to provide a piece of government photo ID.

The cost of a piece depends on many factors. The size, placement, amount of detail, the client's skin and stamina, whether it is colour or black and grey etc. The best way to get an estimate for a piece is to come down and book a consultation. Once I have had a chance to review all the details about how you would like your new tattoo to look, I will be able to give you a better idea of approximate price.

How much will this piece cost me?

If your artist used a Black Pad and Sensi Wrap the tattoo:

  • Keep your wrapping on overnight if possible or for at least 4-6 hours.

  • In the morning, you can use the Sea Salt Soak* Routine OR hop in the shower and with clean hands wash your tattoo with an antibacterial soap with lukewarm water applying moderate pressure. This will remove the naturally occurring blood cells and Vaseline, as well as any debris or plasma that might have collected.

  • You only need to do this soak one time, the morning after your tattoo.

-  Pour 3/4 cup of coarse ground Sea Salt into your CLEAN bathtub.

-  Stand in the bath as you fill it with as hot as you can handle water, stirring gently to dissolve the salt.

-  Soak your new tattoo for 15-20 minutes taking care not to leave your new tattoo resting against the sides or the bottom of the tub.

  • Pat dry with a clean towel and leave uncovered.

  • After a few days, the tattoo will peel and feel itchy.

If your artist used a Saniderm or Second Skin to cover the tattoo:

  • We recommend leaving it on your new tattoo for between 8 to 24 hours. Everyone heals differently, and the length of time will vary depending on how much fluid your tattoo is weeping. You may leave it on for 5-7 days. If your tattoo expels more plasma and blood than usual, you may find yourself having to change it This is common with heavy saturation and color work.

  • Regardless of how much fluid build-up you experience, you should always change the initial film at the 24-hour mark to clean the area.

  • Once you’ve applied the second bandage, it can be worn for up to 6 days. If you find the tattoo weeps into the second piece, remove it at the next 24-hour period. Then wash the tattoo, apply aftercare if needed, and apply a third piece. This third piece can be worn for up to 5 days. Saniderm should not be worn for more than 7 days total. If there is any redness or sensitivity at all, please remove the bandage imminently.

  • After a few days, the tattoo will peel and feel itchy.

  • Daily cleaning is recommended but DO NOT PICK or SCRATCH.

  • You can apply a small amount of ointment, or unscented moisturizer 1-2 times a day but DO NOT over moisturize it as that will slow down healing.

  • DO NOT use any antibiotic ointments, petroleum-based products (Vaseline), aloe vera, preparation-h, bees wax, lanolin, citric acid, tea tree oil, canuba or candilla wax, oleic acid, alcohol, lemon grass or old bottles of lotion hanging around your house.

  • Repeat this process until the tattoo begins to heal.

  • Healing times can vary from person to person, usually 2-3 weeks is average healing time.

  • Be careful not to cross contaminate your lotions and creams! Clean fingers, and never touch ends of the pump on containers.

  • Pools, hot tubs and saunas should be avoided for 2 weeks.

  • Avoid letting your tattoo be in the sun for at least 2 weeks. New tattoos can burn easily. Also, please note, some inks can cause a histamine reaction due to a foreign substance in your skin and you may experience slight irritation on your tattoo months after it's healed. AFTER IT'S HEALED: make sure you're wearing sunscreen while in the sun to protect your tattoo from fading!

  • Elevation, nutrition and fluids are essential after a tattoo, so be good to your body.
